What Not to Flush

It is better to think twice before flushing anything and everything down the drain. Flushing non-biodegradable items into the drain will cause clogging and backflow. At Coulter Pumping and Jones Pumping, we educate you on how your septic system works at no extra charge. Read below some helpful tips and insights. Call us if you have any questions.

Do not flush sanitary products, wipes, cigarette butts or grease. These products do not break down like toilet paper and will plug up your system. You should never flush anything other than human waste because it does not break down in the septic system correctly. Even if items are marked as "septic safe" shouldn’t be flushed. For example, some baby wipes and cat litter may be labelled this way.
